In short: For a few groups, forward the message. For groups you run together, a community’s announcements reach every member at once. WhatsApp warns that bulk messaging through its app can get an account banned, so send only to groups that expect to hear from you. For bulk messaging to customers, use the Business API. Facts as of November 2026.
Your options
| Option | Works for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Forward a message | A few groups | Forwarding is limited, and messages get a forwarded label |
| Community announcements | Up to 100 related groups you own | You can’t currently create one in the Business app |
| Channel | Public updates | Followers can’t reply |
| Team inbox bulk message | Saved lists of groups on a QR-connected number | Needs care: see below |
| Business API | Bulk messages to customers | Sent to people, with templates. Groups on the API are small and limited |
Forward to a few groups
From WhatsApp’s steps:
- Press and hold the message.
- Tap the forward icon.
- Choose the chats and send.
Use community announcements
If your groups belong together, like branches or classes, create a community. Admins can then post one announcement to all members, without sending it group by group.
What WhatsApp warns about
WhatsApp’s responsible use guide tells people not to bulk message, auto-message or auto-dial, and to get permission before adding someone to a group. These practices can get an account banned. Groups don’t make you exempt: people can still report a group or leave.
So before you post to many groups:
- Post only where the message fits the group’s purpose.
- Don’t repeat the same promotion across groups you don’t run.
- Space your sends out, and stop if people complain.
If it goes wrong, see what to do if your number is banned.
In Risponse
On a number connected with a QR code, groups sync into the inbox, and a bulk message can go to saved lists that include contacts and groups, with a gap between messages and delivery logs. Keep these for groups that expect to hear from you, and follow the best practices.
For bulk messaging to customers, use the WhatsApp Business API, through coexistence or on a separate number. It lowers the risk compared with a regular number, but WhatsApp still decides, and no tool can promise a number will never be restricted.
Frequently asked questions
Can I schedule one message to many groups in the WhatsApp app? WhatsApp’s help pages don’t describe this for groups. Teams use a tool with saved lists and schedules.
Is a broadcast list the same as messaging groups? No. A broadcast list sends to individual contacts, not groups.
Can I get banned for posting in many groups? It can happen. WhatsApp bans accounts it believes send spam or unwanted bulk messages.
